Valentine’s day is here!
Whether you’re busy thinking up and preparing gifts for your significant other or just being nice and sharing the love with those around you, I always take Valentine’s Day as a good excuse to share some love to those who need some! The gift of love on Valentine’s Day is beautiful.
After fussing about for your beloved (or like me, everyone else!), there is somebody that we may have forgotten to care, love, cherish and hold, while standing around waiting for love. That person is You, Yourself, and only You.
It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary. – Mandy Hale
In the midst of preparing for a “perfect” Valentine’s Day, I stumbled across the above quote by Mandy Hale. How true it is that loving yourself should be a priority! I stopped to consider how “broken” I must be inside: stressed, poor in immunity, restless sleep, and easily frustrated. So I set on a mini-quest to discover self-love.
Everyday, say 100 things that you love about yourself. – Sonia Choquette
The decision then was to find a gift for me, as we don’t need another person to gift us on Valentine’s Day! As Meher Baba once said “Love has to spring from within“, it is only natural to find that gift in a form of beauty, wellness, and emotional balance. Basic Ayurvedic understanding can explain this.
The heart chakra
To achieve this emotional balance, you must be at peace in your heart. The heart chakra invigorates a rhythm of peace and love. Situated in the middle of your body, it connects and balances with the other six chakras of your body.
The Sanskrit term for the heart chakra is Anahata, meaning “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”. Such powerful terms that reflect your inner strength on a balanced heart chakra.
Green colour – the way to go!
The heart chakra is associated with the colour green, and it is soothing to the eyes. One simple way to self-love it to take your eyes away from the computer screen, and look out to the greenery around you. Aside from looking at greenery, consume more green fruits & vegetables. This will increase your vitamin and mineral intake to physically strengthen your heart!
In yogic practice to help you open your heart, you may use or hold green gemstones, or stones with colours associated with the heart. It’s going to be fun to shop for your perfect gemstone!
This Valentine’s Day, why not treat yourself to a yoga class? An imbalanced heart chakra is associated with the pulmonary and circulatory issue, so get moving with yoga to improve them! Yoga practices such as Bikram yoga can be one way to get started.
Yoga not your cup of tea? Not to worry! Get your body moving in all sorts of dance moves, even if it means just shaking up your body! By moving your body, you will increase your body’s circulation. This increases oxygen flow to your heart, bringing refreshed life into you!
Your heart beats in rhythm, and rhythm puts your discorded emotions back on pace. Essential oils can assist with opening up the heart chakra to allow flowing of love and compassion. A combination of bergamot, lavender, cypress, and geranium essential oils can help balance your heart chakra. Use it in a room, perhaps in a diffuser during yoga or relaxing moments, or as a massage blend to calm your senses.
BLACK PAINT’s INTO Rhythm encompasses these fundamentals to self-love. It is now a must-use in my daily wellness routine! By following the recommended massage sequence, INTO Rhythm works as an excellent underarm deodorizer! Furthermore, the massage movements strengthen your upper arms and breast muscles. Beauty and wellness combined, tick!
As the Dalai Lama says “If you don’t love yourself, you cannot love others. You will not be able to love others. If you have no compassion for yourself then you are not able of developing compassion for others“.
So this Valentine’s Day, remember to love yourself wholeheartedly and be truthful about it, too. Take care and enjoy loving yourself and others.
Happy Valentine’s Day! #lovenaturally
